Recently we have been working on the redevelopment of a large house set in South England, the property dates back to the 1920’s with this being the first real redevelopment on the site.
In our quotations we provided both detail drawings and variations in materials, finishes and specifications. This was whilst working with the client and Architect on the full detail and specification that was required for the project. We were awarded a contract for all the external joinery items on the site.
The requirements for the site included bay windows on the ground and first floor, traditional casement windows, arched head casement windows, French doors and framed ledged and braced doors and frames.
In total there were over 40 joinery items varying in styles with over 800 individual double glazing units and over 1 mile of glazing bars.
The items where manufactured in Sapele hardwood with 4/5/4 “Thindow” slim double glazing units delivering a 1.8 U Value (currently required in the building regulations).
All the openings where fully weather stripped using an “Aquamac” weather seal and all trickle vents used where concealed in drip moulds.
The clients brief was for us to deliver the finished items to site fitted with brass hinges and to a finish of 1no coat of aluminium wood primer and 2no coats of cream undercoat.
The site threw up various challenges but in working along with a good efficient contractor and a client with a clear idea of there requirements we were all able to work together in delivering a high standard of finished product, on time and to the quality our clients have come to expect.
The photos displayed are some of the photos taken during the manufacture of the bay windows on the property.
